Add a unique finishing touch to your Spirits
A unique finishing for your whiskey, rum, cognac, ...
Fill the bottle with the spirit (whiskey, cognac, rum, tequila, ...) you want to refine.
You can use the Soak Staves Box to create 3 different finishings (200 ml peated, 200 ml rum, and 200 ml sherry finishing) from a standard 700 ml bottle, leaving you with 100 ml of the original spirit for comparison.
But the Soak Staves Box also offers you the option of giving 3 different spirits an individual and unique finishing.
Here you can find which finishing or which Soak Stave goes with which spirit .
It is quite normal for the Soak Stave to float at the top of the bottle after filling, before it sinks to the bottom of the bottle after a few days.
Time is a decisive factor when maturing barrel-aged spirits.
Since about 60-70% of the later aroma is created by the barrel maturation, there are laws - depending on the country - according to which a minimum maturation time of 2 or 3 years is required.
You don't have to wait so long for your perfect finishing with the Soak Staves. But we recommend waiting at least 2 weeks to give the Soak Stave the necessary time to develop its aroma.
We recommend shaking the bottle with the Soak Stave from time to time during these 2 weeks. Of course, you are welcome to "nosing" the contents of the bottle during these two weeks.
In addition to the size of a barrel, the air pressure, temperature and alcohol content also play an important role in maturation.
So you may want to give your Soak Stave finishing a little more time.
Taste the difference
You will be amazed at how the spirit, that was previously decantered two weeks ago, has changed.
Not just in terms of color, but most significantly in variety of flavors.
Depending on the Soak Stave used, you will discover additional aromas of fresh fruit, vanilla, wood and oak, plum, flowers, smoke, cocoa and chocolate, berries, honey and much more in your spirit.
If the aroma has become too intense for your liking, we recommend mixing the beverage with the originally used spirit after finishing.
We would be very happy if you would post a short feedback on the result of your combination of the spirit used and the Soak Staves with a photo on our Instagram page.
Thank you in advance.
Cheers -
Enjoy the uniqueness of your drink.
